چکیده

In this paper, a novel model is proposed to analyze the throughput of multi-hop CSMA/CA network. Under certain assumptions, a product-form expression is derived for the stationary distribution of the underlying discrete-time Markov chain, and the throughput formula is given for each link. Interestingly, it is shown that the model includes slotted ALOHA, wireless LAN [6] and idealized CSMA [2] as special cases. Therefore, it not only provides a unified view of the different models but also covers many new cases. Based on the model, we design fully distributed algorithms to improve the throughput and fairness of CSMA/CA networks. In particular, a transmission-length control algorithm is shown to be throughput-optimal (even with collisions), although it has higher overhead than a transmission-probability control algorithm. And a cross-layer algorithm is given to achieve fair bandwidth sharing among different flows. Our analytical results are corroborated by comprehensive simulations.

Performance Analysis of CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) Protocols for Wireless Local Area Networks in Multipath and Shadowing Environments

The channel throughput and packet delay of wireless media access control (MAC) protocols with Rayleigh fading, shadowing and capture effect are analyzed. We consider CSMA/CA protocols as the wireless MAC protocols, since CSMA/CA protocols are based on the standard for wireless Local Area Networks (LANs) IEEE 802.11. We analyze the channel throughput and packet delay for three types of CSMA/CA p...

Towards analytic modelling for CSMA/CA based MAC protocol in wireless multi-hop networks

Wireless multi-hop networks are expected to become important building blocks of future communication networks. With increasing deployment and utilization of such networks, analytic performance models for the analysis of important metrics, in particular throughput, will become necessary. The deployed medium access control (MAC) mechanism has a significant impact on this metric, and Carrier Sense...

Performance analysis of distributed cluster-based MAC protocol for multiuser MIMO wireless networks

It is known that multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication can enhance the performance of wireless networks. It can substantially increase the spectral efficiency of wireless networks by utilising multiuser interference rather than avoiding it. This paradigm shift has most impact on the medium access control (MAC) protocol because most existing MAC protocols are designed to ...
